Although other people have already touched on the unfortunate, housing situation, the fraternities and sororities that are on campus tend to be very involved, have active members, throw good parties, and they are a good face for the community. Hopefully the sororities can have houses again and Greek life will have a Greek row again. The Greeks are the better students, and athletes on campus

The sense of community is strong, and social events are lively. However, the absence of sorority houses is a drawback, affecting the overall experience and contributing to a less-than-ideal aesthetic. Potential for improvement in providing dedicated spaces for sororities, as well as creating an actual Greek row.

Greek Life is less than 8% of the undergrads at Sam, which is insanely small. The University really needs to actually promote and support its chapters as well as stop playing favorites if Greek Life is actually going to thrive like it did decades ago. Going Greek at Sam is still definitely worth it, just don't expect it to be like in the movies.

Housing needs to be improved. The Greek life at Sam is thriving, but for it to grow housing will need to change.

Shsu is a small school, but active Greek life indeed. However, the utter lack of Greek row/housing off campus is horrendous. For a school being around since 1879 it’s sad how small it’s numbers are, and sad how current fraternities haven’t organized a Greek row. Overall the school ultimately seems to be restricting Greek life every year, in terms of raising minimum gpa requirement, forcing more standards. SHSU needs to realize Greek students contribute more to the school than GDI’s do. If you really want a true Greek life experience look at SFA (our rivals), A&M, UT, any big school.

Us girls are working on housing, and several other frats are getting houses soon. Greek life is On an upswing here after the pandemic and it’s going to blossom soon.
