Sorority Advice

Hey! I'm an incoming freshman at W&M and am debating rushing in the fall. The main reason I'd rush is to have a social life as well as events to make new friends at. I'm also considering pledging a D9 sorority but I know they don't party much and there are strict member rules, but I like their community involvement. If I'm looking to party once a week is that possible if I'm not in panhellenic Greek life? I know everyone says that you can join "academic clubs" that throw, but I'm worried about getting there in the beginning and not being in any groups yet. Thanks.
