out of state

by: Nervous

I'm coming to UT as a freshman and would love to rush. I used to live in Knoxville but then moved away for two years. Is being out of state going to impact me?

Not at all! UT sororities are typically very open to out-of-state girls. Unlike other SEC schools, being OOS doesn't automatically eliminate your chances of getting into a top chapter. As a matter of fact, two houses, DZ and AXO, are known specifically to take tons of OOS girls every year. Don't let being from out of state discourage you, but instead realize it sets you apart from other PNMs and gives you a different experience to talk about than most girls who all went to the same schools in the same cities. I hope this helps!

try to come with letters of recommendation. Reach out to everyone and anyone you know. Reach out to local chapters in your area. They won't get you in, but at least it will help keep you from the first cut.
