Frat Rankings going into fall 2023

by: Senior

With the year coming to the end Id thought id leave a review of this year and a prediction for next semester

Top:
1. Sigma Beta: (=) Beta are the top and everyone knows it they have the best house and cant see this moving any time soon they pull from the best dudes on campus they do most of there events with A phi and Axo there basement is small and there party's can be a little lackluster for the rank but they are still undoubtably number one and girls will flock here regardless.

2. Tke: (-/=) Tke have been one of the best party spots on campus all year the lodge is a great place and they will have it next year but after that kappa is taking it they still have the webs but that's not really a party spot they cant do socials since the lodge isn't registered but I see them being top next year but a slow fall off after that with the loss of the lodge still do alot with Axo and A phi.

3. Lambda: (+) Lamnda didn't throw nearly as much as they did last year after getting put on prohibition twice but still recruited really well known for there greasy freshmen filled basement they still have a really strong brotherhood and bright future at unh they do a lot with Axid

4. Asig: (+) A Sig have shown nothing but growth over the last couple years moving from 37 to 2 Strafford they threw decent party's all year and recruited really well compared to what they used to be and have one of the strongest brotherhoods on campus they did a lot with chi o this year and create a very welcoming spot to there guests only trending up from here

5. Theta Chi: (-) Theta would be higher if they weren't losing there house this year they threw the most this year and had the best party's but with out 5 Strafford next year I see a huge fall from grace still good brotherhood but most likely declining in years to come did a lot with axo and a phi this year

6. Agr: (=) Known as the hick/ country frat agr doesn't throw often but when they do it pops off for these guys only have 30 brothers but get along with everyone being in a central location quite literally the same vibes every year

7. Pike: (+) Pike second year back was good they recruited well this semester and are getting there house back this year after being gone for years they still have a lot of geeds in there but they are only trending up from here did a lot of kd this year also

8. Ato: (-) Ato had a great year and would be higher if weren't losing the house on the hill this year with the return of sae they recruit really well and have a really good brotherhood but struggled to get sorority since they are a dry fraternity they might be building there house back but they telling everyone this for years trending down overall
Look to comments for the rest

9. Sae: (+) Sae coming back this year is a shocker to everyone after the scandal last year still the house on the hill is a top house but I think they will struggle to grow for a while after what went down last year but will keep growing back to the top eventually historically have ties with beta and still with axo

10. Sigma Chi: (+) Sigma Chi took Sig nu house last year and really haven't done much with it at all they cleaned it up good but didn't really throw or recruit this year did a lot with Kd still trending up with the new house

11. Kappa Sig (+) (Unrecognized) After getting kicked off campus and losing the house Its good to see they stayed alive at 37 and getting the lodge in a year is huge looks like kappa's future might be brighter then everyone thought

12. Sig nu: (-) Lost there house and struggle to get kids to rush dying very quick and graduating alot of seniors with no future in sight I see sig nu dropping fast from unh

13. Pi Kappa Phi: (+) First year on campus mainly a freshmen frat with no house don't hear much about them gonna take them a while to grow did good for a new frat thought

14. Phi Mu: (-) Literally hear nothing about these kids smart I guess but irrelevant

Sigma chi?? I was at their parties every weekend and also did you forget their weeklong philanthropy event that raised almost $3,000 in just one week? Still doesn't have a sorority they do things with yet but on the come up for sure!

Pi Kappa Phi raised over $3k in 2 days, see a huge future for them if they get a house soon…

It’s just the freshman hype they will prob liquidate as soon as they realize they have no future lol.

What's the Greek Life/Frat scene at UNH? the discussion mentions houses - is the "formal" fraternity house? (do some, all, none have social events w alcohol - whether allowed or under the table) at the formal house?
Or is UNH - like many schools - where the fraternity house is mainly dry - but the parties - happen at annex or satellite houses?
there's alot of mentions of a location called the Lodge here.. and several fraternities "loosing" their house - is this there formal house 20-40 guys live? or just the rental houses that get used for parties?

Am affiliated w a National IFC fraternity - w minimal chapters in New England (CT/VT/NH/RI/MA/ME).. Want to learn more about campuses w Greek life - and potential good schools to explore expansion.. Explore.. that doesn't mean anything more - then learning about the campus culture... UNH may not have enough students (12-13k undergrads) to support 30 fraternities, etc.. With Kappa Sigma and SigEp gone - and the hint of others on their last leg - maybe UNH is worth looking into?
Although - maybe u need a house "on the hill" to really be stable?
But as u can see - and the post notes - it takes a while for a new group to build.. Most new groups (if not comnig back) - don't have $3M to buy and build a new house...

Appreciate the real feedback. Not about any 1 house - but just the culture at UNH and Fraternity scene among the student body...

Will try to answer most of these straightforward, basically there are 7 fraternities that have official Lettered houses. The town of Durham is extremely strict about zoning and it’s essentially impossible for another fraternity house to go in. Most of the fraternities with houses own those houses so even if they get kicked out of them they usually eventually get it back. To stay relevant the ones without lettered houses will try to sign leases at party spots but these spots are usually hyper competitive to get and in many cases passed down year to year or in some cases signed for years in advance. The campus is pretty much at capacity in terms of what it can support and any new fraternity will likely just spend years hoping someone else is kicked off to be relevant, because sororities aren’t allowed to have official parties at fraternities without lettered houses. Essentially the whole thing is a real estate game and the most popular fraternity is only the most popular because they have the nicest house for girls to take pictures at and watch volleyball
