Do sororities have to take sophomores / a certain amount?

Yes! There is only a limit on how many juniors and seniors they can take.

Juniors don’t count against quota so a sorority can take as many as they want, although not many juniors choose to go through recruitment which is why there isn’t many juniors in pledge classes.

If they like you then they like you. It’s not a matters of how many they’re required to take - they could take none if they really wanted to

It’s not a big deal to be a sophomore or junior at all, so do not let anyone discourage you!
