Which houses are selective with who gets to recruit?

I’m a pnm this year but took a gap year last year so I have friends that are already in Greek like at Boulder. a few of my friends are in chi o but they weren’t “selected” to recruit girls. My friend in theta said that everyone who wants to recruit can recruit. Apparently chi o’s selection is pretty narrow and I’m wondering if there are other houses that do this?

as someone that is rushing that is kinda concerning to me. it gives off the vibe that they are trying to hide certain girls that they don't think match the appearance of the sorority/girls they are trying to recruit.

I also want to be able to recruit girls my soph year and don’t want to worry about not being selected

i'm in a sorority and have friends in different sororities and i know that in quiet a few it is actually required that you recruit your sophomore year. if it is something that you are concerned about while rushing you could always ask a girl during recruitment saying something like "i have loved the recruitment process and i am looking forward to recruiting next year. does everyone in this sorority get a chance to recruit if they want to?" or you could ask a rho gam because they might have more answers about it.

Chi O is the only one I have heard of not allowing girls to recruit. In most houses I think Sophomores and Juniors are required to recruit.

chi o is known for having “basement girls” you won’t see these girls as they are out of sight tallying pnm scores

This is definitely true for chi o. I’m friends with a 2025 graduate chi o and she was “selected” to rush each year even tho she didn’t want to do it her senior year. They choose the most outgoing pretty girls as the face of chi o during rush, so as a new pnm you will most likely not get your rush crush as your big because many of the actives rushing aren’t even sophomores.

i can confirm this is true but sometimes it backfires with seniors because they don’t really want to recruit and just aren’t enthusiastic about being there

My sorority prioritizes seniors being able to rush! So it’s a little trickier to get a spot as a sophomore!

My sorority has everyone involved, but the sophomores take the lead with the pnms.

we also have sophomores take the lead. it’s their first time on the other side so it’s super fun for them. a lot of our seniors are doing interships, have jobs etc. plus a lot times the sophomores know sophomore pnm’s or have classes with pnm’s.
