recruitment

I just committed to CU for next fall and I'm so excited! I really want to join a sorority, but I know this website doesn't have the most truthful things to say about each one. What are the honest rankings/ descriptions of each house?

Pi Phi and Alpha Phi are top houses. Pi Phi girls are known to party a lot, Alpha Phi girls are really preppy. Equally top tier. DG is also top tier, they are known to have really smart girls. All good houses
Middle tier would be Kappa, Theta and Chi O.
Top house of the low tier is GPhi
Houses you don't want to join - Tri Delta and AXO

Top houses have always been DG, Chi o, and Pi phi. DG and Chi o have very similar girls. They are typically smart, adventurous, and chill. Pi Phi is also a good choice. They tend to party a bit harder than the chi os and DGs. Alpha Phi is known to have a lot of pretty girls who are also pretty shallow. Thetas are all chill girls who don't care that much about being in a sorority. G-phis are the really sweet girls who mostly play sports outside of the sorority or are involved in other offcampus activities. A chi o are all super nice and very welcoming. Tri delts are really sweet too and very involved.

Each house is each house. They're all great in their own way. They all have their own vibes. Rankings are subjective and arbitrary. They're all awesome women! Go Greek!

The worst thing you can do before recruitment is look up house and try to know them before you get there. Trust me. Telling all the girls in your Rho Gamma group some b.s. about tiers and "best/worst" will limit your experience and anyone else you talk to. Go in with an open mind and a basic understanding that reputation doesn't matter. Especially in Boulder. Boulder dgaf about Greek reputations.

You really can't go wrong with any houses! The houses on here that are "top"houses are only called that because girls from those houses troll this website. If you were to put a composite of each house next to each other with no letters you would not know which house was which. Go in with a open mind. Pick the girls that seem the most real and genuine, you want to find a home. Not a place to put other people down. Go with what feels right :) Best of luck!

Will be attending Boulder in the fall of 2017, really do want to join a sorority and I know how crazy and competitive recruitment can be. I was wondering if anyone could answer on what it's like, how difficult is it, does everyone get bids? Also I know more than half of Boulder is white, is there any racism in any sororities, are they all stereotypical white girls who don't want anyone else than a pretty blonde? Im indian and coming to Boulder out of state I really do want to rush and meet a good group of girls I can get close to throughout the years but Im afraid I won't get into any houses, Pleeease help

Answered this question in your other GR post, so please read there as well as here.

Your race will not matter. It is your attitude, expectations, skills, and grades that will determine your recruitment success.

Not everyone gets bids, but no sorority wants to make a poor impression upon a potential new member. It may seem all the women in all the houses absolutely love you as you go thru first round. But let me clue you in to the truth: the more popular houses at CU and on any campus across the USA must cut the highest number of women from their invitation list immediately after the first party. This is NOT done to discourage women from joining. It's purpose is to equalize the number of Bid Day New Members in ALL the houses on a campus. So you must look at ALL potential sororities as your new home, not just those that are the most popular.

A wealth of information is available on the main CU Greek Life website. Read it, learn, and ask questions from those there in the know. This anonymous website is pretty poor compared to pertinent CU, National Panhellenic Conference, greekchat, and thesororiitylife websites available.

FYI you may wish to learn more about the RFM method used by the sororities at recruitment. RFM is used to bid the most women possible during a recruitment into a sorority home. Those who win the bids are women who maximize their recruitment party attendance, maximize their pref party attendance, and maximize their listed bid choices.

They really need one or two additional NPC sororities on campus, but shy away from opening for expansion because...well, not just any sorority is going to suffice! Enjoy your giant new member classes in Fall, ladies.
