Sorority ranking

by: SRAT ranks

In case any one is curious, here are the sorority rankings and a bit about them before fall rush!

To preface: sororities are NOT a huge thing at UChicago. No houses, limited commitment level, all the same vibe (girls who enjoy going out), all mix with fraternities. Nobody cares too much which one you are in, do not overthink it. A lot of girls get dropped or drop out completely during rush, so if you do not get any houses during formal rush do NOT worry, there’s COB for most sororities (dg, theta, pi phi).

1. AOII - most girls go for this house during formal recruitment. Probably the most prominent in the social scene, you see them at most frat parties, and they go out a lot. You are most likely to get in if you have a connection (sister, high school friend). Some inner sorority drama. Typical “northern style sorority”.

Oak would probably be below AOII, but they are not a part of Greek Life. Everything below here changes from year to year, so go based off connection with the girls.

2. DG - LOTS of athletes. Most girls are REALLY nice, a few not so nice ones. Strong sisterhood. Not much to say about them. Last years MC was not as good as previous years.

3. Theta - strongest connection in terms of sisterhood. Most girls seem to be very close with each other. Used to have negative stigma after the Oak scandal, but slowly coming back. Half-half on partiers vs. preferring to stay in. Known to be the most “southern style sorority”.

4. Pi Phi - not too much to say about them. Nice girls, seem to be friends with each other. not many just pi phi friend groups. No strong established philo. Probably the least commitment. Not as many social events.

Remember rush is stressful, just be yourself! You will end up where you are meant to be.
