Aphi

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman girl. I was wondering why y'all tiered Aphi so low? If you're part of the greek system, please explain to me lol. I've always seen them having a strong social presence, and they have the largest following, nice house, and some super pretty and fun-looking girls. Just from someone yet to arrive on campus, a lot of my friends going to Cal and I assumed it would've been like a top 3 sorority.

Followers aren’t everything! Aphi chapters always have a large following on Instagram, that doesn’t necessarily match their standing. The top 5 or so houses go to similar events anyways, they all have pretty and fun girls, so it doesn’t really matter. Aphis reputation just isn’t as good.

@curious. Suggest a quick google search for "University of Michigan Alpha Phi Recruitment" and it will tell you everything you need to know about how APhi national sets recruitment guidelines and standards for their chapters. All PNMs are 'ranked' and this rank carries through your entire time in the house. Low ranked members don't recruit and are relegated to the basement/kitchen and lowly tasks and don't meet PNMs. If you are 'good' with this type of treatment of women in the year 2020 then by all means feel free to join the 'shady ladies'! Seriously, the APhi recruitment guidelines (which are national BTW) set women back 200 years!

Aphi is a top house. Aphi, kappa, pi phi, and DG are the top houses who socialize with the top fraternities (KA, SAE, zete, fiji, dke). Years ago aphi was mid tier but the past four years they’ve been top.
