Being BIPOC at Cal
by: BIPOC in GreeklifeHi I am a BIPOC in Greek life at Cal and I feel like I am being oppressed by members of my house and members of the Greek community. As a BIPOC, the tremendous racial discrimination and prejudice I experience daily is serious and should not be tolerated in Greek life

Guess what? You're not special. Everyone's ancestors have suffered at some point, while more than likely YOU personally have not. Complaining and you just feeling sorry for yourself would have embarrassed your ancestors who experienced actual horrible things so take a look in the mirror, get some perspective, and grow up.

Nigerian Americans are not all BIPOC. Just because your group is thriving in your area does not mean all BIPOC are. By being up discrimination does not mean you are whining. My ancestors have been fighting oppression and discrimination for centuries. They were not whining but they were fighting. They taught me when you see something wrong, you stand up and talk about it. You don't ignore the problem, you fix it. Oppression is real. If don't believe discrimination exist, then you have not done enough listening.

Actually, my experience as a BIPOC is one where I suffer without resources, opportunities, and continuous discrimination as a result of my skin color. Other white people have gotten much further ahead than I have just because they are white and I am not. Check your privilege, my ancestors were oppressed but so am I.
