question for greeks

what happens when the frat goes independent and disassociates itselfs from the university? I read that the university discourages students from pledging independent frats, but why and who cares what the school thinks. In my eyes, I would still join an independent frat if I liked it and it’s members. I dunno, It doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

Frats are free to disassociate themselves from the university it risk also disassociating from nationals as well. Without nationals the frat would be a house wii a bunch of guys with no backing.
