gphi

by: REPOST

What makes me sad about reading this similar posts about GPhi is that if some of the people that got a bid from GPhi thought about the future instead of just today then there might be a shot to save this house and build our community. GPhi nationally is an incredible organization and the opportunity exists to build a wonderful sisterhood here at Cal. But if people just keep thinking about how things are today then nothing with this house will ever change IMO. There is a huge opportunity for a group of like minded strong women to join this house and build it OVER TIME into something that our system needs which is another strong house. Building a chapter takes time and I have been watching now for 4 years when people say no to GPhi. By saying NO to GPhi you are saying NO to Greeklife at Cal. You had an option and your choice was to turn it down. Our system needs ever house to be strong. People say they came to recruitment with an open mind but if you turn down your last option then your mind is not open IT IS CLOSED! We have too few spots and simply too many people. If we lose GPhi then our system becomes WEAKER AND NOT STRONGER. This typical 'me me me' and 'all about today' thinking will bring down GPhi and make recruitment next year even worse especially if we lose at least one other house which seems highly likely. Totally pathetic. I have been watching this for 4 years and every year gets worse as more people drop early and complain and then say they were open minded.

Maybe if these girls who feel they had so much to offer would go through COB at Gamma Phi, see other girls like themselves (who dropped because they did not get one of the top houses), and see that together they could re-enfuse the Gamma Phi with some new blood and a more competitive feel, things could turn around.

Otherwise, I foresee Gamma Phi nationals shutting down the chapter for several years (putting current members in alumni status), and starting from scratch. No way in hell are they going to give up that prime real estate and such a historical chapter.

Where are the "too few spots and simply too many people" as you claim in your post? Bed rush does not exist anymore during NPC recruitment, granny alum. All over greekrank misinformed people like you make that same goofy statement and it is not true. Go to the npcwomen.org website and read-up on the CURRENT rules of recruitment, then come back here and be more panhellenic than you thought you ever could be when you first posted on this site.

I read her post to mean "too few spots and too many people" as saying Kappa/DG/PiPhi/APhi can only take so many girls, which seems to be the problem. You want Gamma Phi (...and then Theta, then AXO, then DDD, as each takes on "bottom house" status?) to close? First you will have huge pledge classes, or you will have even less girls joining sororities, ultimately.
My understanding of RMF is the number of girls attending the final pref round sets quota. The less houses there are, the smaller the number of the denominator in the equation. Figure it out.

The problem is that QAs have gotten out of control to “benefit” the PNM. If PNMs knew that it was just straight quota they would stop trying to game the system so they could be a quota addition. I’ve seen rush numbers (not just here, but at other schools) where there are over 3 dozen QAs and still a chapter struggling on the bottom. Seriously what.

You are a Russian troll-bot using similar syntaxes year upon year to put down the Cal panhellenic system in particular and the NPC in general. Nice try.
