why is theta ranked so low?
by: freshmanevery girl i talked to during rush seemed so nice and genuine, so I was just wondering why they are considered "bottom tier?" I heard that it was one of the oldest sororities on campus along with the four top tier sororites, so why is theta not up there with them?

Theta historically has been known as a house that doesn't go out much and stays under the radar. The '17 pledge class is a lot cuter and more social, but it takes time for a house to be seen as as different rank than what they've been known as for so long. In terms of which frats/sororitys they hang out with, I think most would consider them mid tier rather than bottom. The only real bottom tier house at Cal is Gamma Phi.

Too bad you didn't have the courage to get behind the labels and do your own thinking about Theta. But you know what? You don't matter because there were many people this year that met and loved the people at Theta and they were super happy to pledge there. If you can't get behind the labels and make your own decisions you deserve what you get which is NOTHING. Theta is a great house as is DDD, Zeta, AXO, ADPi, SK etc. I am not a Theta but I respect them because they have a plan and they are making that plan happen. They also have huge history at Cal and this is important too.

A reminder that rankings are RELATIVE. Theta is ranked low relative to all the other houses at Cal but that doesn’t mean they’re not a strong house. As all the houses get stronger, theoretically so will theta, but they’re getting better pretty much at the same rate as a lot of other houses (zeta, tri delt, etc.) meaning they likely won’t surpass any house in ranking and will still be seen as “bottom tier”
