which houses did you pref and which did you pick?
by: angry2I continue to think about some of the issues surrounding our fall recruitment and am now more puzzled than ever? It seems that many posts talk about not trusting the process and by association Panhel. As panhel doesn't choose to share much info how about people post what their pref houses were and which house they picked? Also if you think that you were dropped from a house for no reason post that too. It will be helpful to see this information to see if any patterns emerge. My suspicion is that the patterns will reveal themseles in no time flat!

Dropped from KKG, DG, pi phi, adpi. Pref'd APhi and Chi O and picked Chi O. Really happy with my choice so far :) My friend chose to drop out but I stayed. I didn't know anyone in the house going in, already making friends. My friend who dropped out is fine though too. She went with other independents to game day and stuff so no big deal.

Prefd xo and adpi and picked adpi. So far its all good. Like my class and met great people during recruitment. It was shocking to get dropped though...eyeopening actually...dropped by dg, kappa, axo. Loved the ladies at theta and some friends on my floor pledged and loving it...ditto to sk and xo...share the love ladies!

Prefd ddd and theta and picked ddd. Seriously hard choice as I loved both houses. Other houses I loved: axo, xo, pi phi, alpha phi, adpi, zeta sk and gphi. You can draw your own conclusions about my thoughts of the houses I chose to omit. If houses think that its not possible to sense sisterhood vibe in a 20-30 min event then they are fooling themselves. Sisterhood is all in my books. Love my new sisters!

I prefd adpi and sk and picked sk. Rough hard choice as the houses each are unique. Love my class. I liked so many houses. Loved meeting the ladies of adpi, alpha phi, pi phi, theta, tri delt, zeta and g phi. Don't want to look back at the houses that dropped me ;(. My floormates and I chatted every night about what we went through and how we felt. They said its ok to post where they ended up: chi o, theta, dg and adpi. My floormate from dg has really been hit hard by some of the comments on here about her house as she is feeling the hate in a really big way. We don't have a kappa on the floor to see how she is faring post recruitment. Everyone is different I guess as some of my floormates down voted dg and got dropped and others down voted still got asked back even though they didn't want the house as much as other houses. I wanted a mix of fun, upbeat gals and I found it. Happy doesn't cover it!

I'm not writing about myself but about one of my roommates. She was so upset after the first event and being dropped that she had to go to counseling. She dropped out of recruitment and hasn't been the same since the whole thing happened. I'm not sure what to do to help her. She won't do anything other than go to class, study and kinda eat. I didn't go through recruitment as I couldn't afford it as its expensive. But so many of the other girls on the floor said it was a rough deal but they seemed to do ok and are happy now. We are trying to help our friend but honestly don't know what to do. Our RA said to give it another week and see but I am seriously worried. What should I do?

nobuena, you have a situation for sure. I would suggest talking to your RA again and maybe even going to counseling for ideas on what to do. Is your roomie making any friends or is she staying off by herself? Let her know you care about her and don't let her spend too much time by herself. There are ways to be ok as an independent. But she can always go through rush again...but now is probably not the time to mention that. Just do the best you can.

Prefd xo and aphi and picked aphi. I seriously like my pledge class and enjoyed most parts of recruitment. My rush counselor was fantastic and helped so much. A number of other people on my floor pledged too. So its great because now I know people in 6 other houses which is fun. We are all different and our houses are a bit different but thats what is good here I think. I am sooo glad that I didn't pick one of the houses getting all the shade on here...so so glad. If any of its true (and I suspect it is) then those ladies should be ashamed. I think if I were a pledge and heard something from a bunch of people that made me feel uncomfortable or that didn't fit with my values I would leave my house. But I'm not sure everybody would agree with doing that though as there is peer pressure to conform.

I am ok with the way things worked out. I pref xo and theta and picked theta. I liked both houses but for me the place I felt most comfortable was theta. No hard feelings for xo or any of the houses that dropped me. Put recruitment in the rear view mirror as it was horrible, tiring, no fun and stressful. Concentrating now on enjoying my pledge class and meeting my new sisters who seem fun and chill. I just wish we could embrace differences in a positive way. Cal is a melting pot and I'm not sure what that means is clear to everyone.

If you are worried about her speak to RA or call counseling. Lots of people were upset but its not worth diving into a depression!
