If you will, as you said, simply keep an open mind during recruitment you will be fine. Just relax and be yourself. You will find a group that you feel a connection with. I went to one of the larger high schools in this state and knew girls in four different sororities when I went through recruitment. As it turned out, I did not pledge any of those four, and they are perfectly fine with that. You need to go where you feel the most comfortable, It's your four years in college. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. I hope you end up down here on the Plains. Auburn Panhellenic is truly awesome!

no way do you have to "know a bunch of girls already"! I am actually from Alabama, but most of my high school went to colleges besides Auburn, so I knew VERY few girls in sororities.
My rush experience was awesome! And being on the other side of rush, VERY few sororities will consider you not knowing people or being out of state to be any kind of problem! I am in a GREAT sorority (and every sorority at Auburn has a lot to offer- it just depends on your best fit) and we have lots of girls from both in AND out of state! Diversity is the best!

It's a good strategy for rush. Have all of the sororities on here making nice and saying good things about each other. Make the rushees think that they should not drop out since all of the houses seem so good. Then after it's all over you can show your true GREEK colors and go back to being the low backstabbing catty gossips that sororities really are. Good plan.

All the PNM needs to do to see that all sororities at Auburn are strong is look at each sororities web site! Each sorority has lists of accomplishments and honors....beautiful girls who are active in almost everything available on campus. Yes, there are some silly catty girls in sororities...and obviously from the post below there are silly catty girls NOT in sororities at Auburn.

My sister and my cousins are, or were, all in different sororities at SEC schools other than Auburn. They have been, and are still, amazed at how many girls at AU are good friends with girls in other groups here. They are even more astounded how our groups protect each other on this site. Now, at rush we want the best, but I have never heard ANY of my sisters downgrade ANY group to anyone (sure, we all think that our group is the best, but as for just being back stabbers...no.)After rush there is really no need to talk about anyone bad in another group because all the groups are at quota so no one is "trying to get someone" after that anyway! Of course gossip is everywhere, in a sorority or out, so that is not just a Greek thing, that will always be around. My bf is in another group and we still hang out all the time, no problem. I've introduced her to my friends and me to hers and then we have a lot of mutual friends from high school..some in a group, some not. FUN!War Eagle!

has not paid attention to recruitment for a while. We are fortunate in that Auburn University and Auburn Panhellenic attract so many wonderful ladies. It's not like we have 17 Panhellenic sororities chasing just 50 great girls. Instead, we have hundreds and hundreds of awesome ladies with good GPA, super involvement, and strong recommendations who want a spot in one of only 17 groups. So, not only is every sorority pledging quota, EVERY group pledges awesome girls that any sorority would love to have. A glance at pledge classes proves this. Literally NO weak links. ALL IN & WAR EAGLE!

Should have expected this. We are members of one of the many groups who have been working to cancel out negative posts about our sororities. We were recently visited by a poster who objected to that and said that they should be able to post bad things about groups they don't like. We're answering here so we won't be giving ourselves a score by posting. Our answer is this. We are not "babysitting". We mean the positive things we say about Auburn sororities. We think Greek life at Auburn is awesome. Say bad things if you must. We will keep trying to overwhelm you with good things. ALL IN!!
