Why does it matter?
by: HiI’m just genuinely curious. Why does it matter what people rank the sororities and fraternities? Like is it actually that big of a deal which one you join? I just have a hard time wrapping my head around this. I thought the point of joining was to find friends and get more involved, not to just be able to say you’re in a “top” house or whatever. I just genuinely wanted to hear people’s opinions on this

I really HATE that people feel the need to rank the sororities and fraternities. I also get really tired of this whole we're the best mindset. They're all different. They all have something to offer. I think it's not helpful to the Greek system as a whole and it just stresses out PNMs. Not everyone is going to join a "top" house and does it matter? (I am looking at you Chi O and your choose wisely crap on instagram-like you're not going to cut a buttload of girls?) Find where feels right for you and forget about rankings and instagram posts and all that other crap. The fact is Auburn is FULL of men and women that are superstars.

This. It’s honestly so dumb that people rank them. And you’re right, it doesn’t do anything but hurt the Greek life community with that and the “we’re the best” mindset. As a current member of one of the sororities, one of my favorite things about Auburn Panhellenic has always been that it feels like one big family between all the sororities and we all support each other. So it makes me sad when they get pitted against each other or when there’s this stigma created that if you aren’t in a “top” house you aren’t good enough. Each one has such incredible people to connect with, and honestly, no one is ever going to care what sorority or fraternity you were in in college. There’s so much more to you as a human being than what organization you’re a part of. So, pnms, if you’re reading this, go where you feel at home and where you truly enjoy being, no matter what other people may say or what the “ranks” are
