snap bids

can y'all explain snap bids? i want to rush as a sophomore next year and I've heard of snap bids but I'm not really sure what they are and how they work

probably not the best source on this, but to answer your question: on bid day, if a sorority does not have a full pledge class at quota (set by UF), they can call back women who were released from recruitment and offer them a bid. So suppose you are released after round 3 and don't go on to pref, and XYZ has only 70 bids within the quota of 80, they can call you and 9 others the morning of, and you'd go to their bid day and become a new member.

You don't want to rush hoping for a snap bid, as that means you have been dropped by everyone and are only given a bid because a house didn't meet quota. Not the best way to join a sorority!
