is there any way to switch what sorority you're in? if you haven't been initiated yet, and you regret choosing a certain house over another after prefs

you would have to drop your current house before intiation and go through recruitment again next year

This is what happens when you fall for the myth of "tiers," which are fake as no such thing is recognized by UF, by UF Panhellenic, or by any Greek organization anywhere. "Tiers" are literally made up by puerile sorority girls and perv frat boys in their dorm rooms and posted online, and fools think they're real!

Agree with above, but what about if it is not about "tiers" and its just about fit. Period.Whether its up, down or lateral. Does this ever happen?

it can happen but don't expect a better result if you have to go through recruitment again. sophomores who already went through once and got a bid will be at a much bigger disadvantage.

Many girls pledge a chapter and realize it is not for them. If you drop before initiation you can rush again the following year. The only chapter that will probably drop you immediately is the one you're breaking the pledge with.

Ahhh, the truth is they will all probably drop you.

To hmmmmm, why do you think that they all would drop her? Is this based on what has happened in past years, or are you just speculating?

that really depends on the circumstances

the truth is that you're at your most attractive to sororities when you're a freshman. when houses know you already dropped out of a sorority, they worry that you will drop them too.

only drop out if you will really be ok with not being in a sorority at all, because that's a very real possibility if you do this.

Does anyone actually know anyone that has done this ( dropped before initiation, then rushed again successfully sophomore year)at UF, or is all of this just urban legend ?

Every year recruitment gets more competitive. Next year you would be competing with a whole new crop of PNMs as an older girl who dropped her own chapter. We all know you are coming thru a second time. If you think you should have picked your other pref... unfortunately you have no idea how far down you might have been on their list and next year you might not get invited back.
