unsure
by: RushI just joined a sorority. I have always wanted to be in Greek life so I was determined to stick out rush until bid day. I was dropped from pretty much all my favorite houses, and while I had a solid schedule throughout rush, I was still disheartened. I joined a house that I saw really loved each other but I didn't fall in love with this sorority, or any sorority that I preffed. After meeting some girls in my pledge class and more actives, I'm feeling very very unsure about my choice and I don't know if this is right for me. Have any of you experienced this before? Should I drop and rush next year? Or will I be rejected from almost every house?

Give them a chance. The rush process is a superficial facade where none of the houses present themselves as they truly are. They all fake it. Only by joining can you really know what they're really like, and sometimes it's not pretty. Give your house some time, at least a semester. They well could be the place for you!

If really in doubt, you should decide soon. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and initiation came and went and now I am an initiated member and have dropped out. I wish I had gone with my gut and walked away when I could have. Now I cannot go through the recruitment process ever again.

Bid day was Tuesday and you posted this today. Honestly, I don't think 5 days is enough time to make this decision. Most chapters initiate members between the 6-8 week mark. Give it a couple of weeks, go to the house everyday, make a true effort to get to know as many new members and sisters everyday. You can alway drop out before initiation and try rush again. Just remember the highs and lows of what that process was like for you.

Why would you want to? At UF, it's the most vain, superficial cavalcade of preening wannabes on the planet.
