can we talk about this?

by: We need to talk

So I'm not in tri delta, but I have a lot of friends that are. Friends that are smart, caring, kind, fun, and beautiful inside and out. Yet, our community has placed a reputation of being weird, boring, and bottom-tier upon these women. I do not know all the girls in this sorority, but the ones I do know are by no means bottom tier, nor do they deserve to feel excluded from the greek community that they are apart of. Every time I hear someone make a joke about tri delta, I get uncomfortable. This stigmatizing dialogue surrounding tri delta is not uncommon. People hear it and they are un-phased by it. The worst part of this whole situation is the backstory of how tri delt got their reputation. Most people are unaware of this story that happened 6-7 years ago, but those that do should be more sensitized to the tri delt stigma and should not participate in making fun of girls in tri delt. Also, the way it came about reflects negatively on our community, and the fact that the stigma still exist is even worse and further makes Lafayette look bad. Therefore, in some way, some how, this stigma needs to be addressed because it is really hurting my friends.
