how likely is it for someone to rush and not get into any houses?

If you do not single preference (commonly called suiciding) on preference night then you are guarenteed a bid to one of the two houses you attend on preference night. If you suicide then you could end up without a bid, it’s not encouraged

I single preferenced this year and ended up without a bid. I got a COB (continuous open bid) the day of rush, but I did not end up becoming a member of the chapter that gave me the COB, so I am not in Greek Life. Unless you do what I did, you will most definitely get a bid. There was only one house that I wanted on preference night, and I absolutely was unable to see myself at the other house I had, so that’s why I did what I did. Best of luck to you next fall!
