middle tiers

I would say that SDT is very much a top tier sorority. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a GDI.

I think you're gonna see that with a few exceptions, a lot of URI sorority members are refraining from ranks and badmouthing other houses. We want you to meet us and decide what you want from a sorority.

The middle is debated because it's just that--the middle. You get girls that could have gone to a variety of houses, a more diverse mix of appearances, etc. by trying to rank them you end up comparing houses that are strong all in different ways, which isn't a fair comparison. So it's best to wait and meet members of the houses and decide yourselves.

Agree with the above poster. plus what you have for "middle tear" is not even accurate. Most people would consider some of those lower and some of those upper. With that being said, tears are never accurate and that shouldn't be the reason you pick a house

who is ZTA?

Just to clarify, the sororities that are typically considered middle are Sigma Kappa, Chi Omega, Sigma Delta Tau and Zeta Tau Alpha.

I love DZ, and think the girls are mad fun. But, I would have to agree, they are not in the same as Aphi and adpi yet.

OP, you don't know that a top house won't take you just because you're a sophomore. Try to be open minded about ALL 10 sororities, you won't really know how you feel until recruitment.

Middle houses:
4th SDT: pretty girls; opinion is that they do well during recruitment but afterwards their new members complain that they see them for who they really are. SDT doesn't have a great rep with other houses because they constantly talk badly about others to make themselves look better. They don't win events much, and I'm not even sure what their philanthropy even is. I'm sure they have a lot to offer if they are ranked fourth. Owns their own house.

5th ZTA: Newer sorority that has only been around for 5 years, and they have moved up fast and accomplished a lot! In the beginning they were everywhere! Now there are some rumors that they are focused on partying (and being a little sloppy). That being said, they have a great philanthropy and are very visible on campus. Rents their house from Phi Psi and their contract is just about up!

6th Sigma Kappa: Nice girls. The pro is that you don't hear much gossip and they seem to get along, the con is that they are fading into the background and will continue to slide in rankings because they are forgetable. They need to step up to hold their spot. Owns their own house.

7th ChiOmega: I feel like these girls have gone from dreaded to really likeable over the past few years. They have ways to go before they break the middle if the pack, but they have a great sisterhood, philanthropy, and work hard. A few random/ weird members that don't fit. Owns their house and has been renovating recently.

SDT is usually known for being great socially but also I hear rumors about them talking behind each other's backs. ZTA is also fun socially but don't have as good looking girls as SDT it seems.

chi o has probably been the most improved sorority, and if they keep up the good work, I could even see them breaking into the upper middle tier.
