The fraternity voluntarily chose to suspend most members following a series of incidents which brought into question the chapter's adherence to the national fraternity's teachings of "virtue, diligence, and brotherly love." However, a renewed membership recruitment and rebuilding process has begun with an informal pledge recruitment that occurred with this academic year. Sigma Phi Epsilon Iowa Gamma will be back and better than ever once again in the near future.
