to all the houses that dropped me

by: Saddened

To all the fine ladies that dropped me:
First of all, congratulations for finding girls that came off as better than me. It saddens me that I will not be a part of greek life, but I know I'm not alone. If any of you would stop for a second, you would realize that I am one of the most dedicated, loyal, hardworking girls. I volunteer at animal shelters, was a special olympics coach for two years, helped run Relay For Life at my high school, was a part of national, italian, and english honor society, graduated at the top of my class, and work a job while here at school with 20+ hours weekly. I'm the most kind, caring person that would do absolutely anything for a person in need. And since I know looks are a big part of it, I'm a beautiful girl, however this system seems to have told me otherwise. I'm not writing this to say that I'm better than anyone, but solely to say how disappointed I am in this process. So to all those houses that rejected me, thank you for allowing me to see that I am much more than what you seem to think I am.

Just about every other girl that went through recruitment is just like you. Try again next year. YOU girls just don't get it you all think you are the chosen one, but in reality your just like every single girl that goes through. If it was meant to be then is will be.

You seem to have missed the entire point of the message, but that's okay

found yourself. You are a very involved and keep doing what you do. You have an awesome resume. It's just that everyone at OSU is so similar because that's what it takes in getting accepted to OSU. So stay you and be proud of all you accomplishments. Try a professional sorority maybe that will be a better fit for you.

honestly you probably got rejected because you don't have good connections to girls in greek life here. people on here will tell you that your qualifications are extremely average and you do not stand out here at ohio state, but from what ive heard over the past two weeks leads me to believe differently. the truth is, if you don't have a good network of girls to help you get through the system then your chances of getting into a house are drastically reduced.

this is the same girl whose mom (supposedly) wrote on another post that she's saddened for her daughter who is deserving of an elite "top tier" house and was forced to drop because she only got offers from tri delt, chi o and fuzzy. meanwhile, the girls in those houses have, at a minimum, the same qualifications as she does - including better character

^ that wasn't me. I'm not a legacy and got cut by all of those chapters.

Honestly, you could be involved in a million things in high school and college, but if you dont click with the girl you are talking to none of that matters. I am part of a mid tier sorority, but even we don't really look at involvement as much as if your personality meshes with the girls already in this chapter. I wasn't involved in anything in college before recruitment, but I still went to all top/mid tier houses every round.

I'm sorry I assumed you were the person from the other thread. You sound like you have wonderful qualifications. I have friends who were cut last year who also had great qualifications and are amazing girls - they did informal and are really happy! As another person mentioned, get to know girls in houses. Sometimes it's the person you spoke with during recruitment who isn't as outspoken in the house and doesn't fight for a spot for you. Some girls have the advantage of knowing girls in houses from high school and, while they may not have your qualifications, they have an "in". Have faith, it'll work out for you and you'll love being a part of sisterhood for years to come!

I'm sure your resume looks awesome but if none of the girls felt like they could be friends with you, that's that. Greek life isn't for everyone. Resume isn't everything in Greek life. If your personality didn't mesh well with any of the chapters, they did you a favor by not extending you a bid.

It could also be that she just happened to be paired with girls she didn't click with - doesn't mean many of the other girls wouldn't have clicked with her. It's highly unlikely with all the girls in the houses that she wouldn't find girls she could form lifelong friendships with!

I knew nothing about Greek Life before rushing and still found houses I loved. Same thing for many of my friends. So I have no clue what you're talking about. Sorry you didn't get a bid, but chances are it has to do with you, not the recruitment process. Go through informal or something, but otherwise stop complaining when you know nothing about how recruitment works.

So, you:
-listed every sorority each time you could rank them?
-attended all parties to which you were invited?
-invited to at least one sorority for the final preference round?
-agreed to accept a bid to any sorority to which you went to preference?
-AND you did not get a bid?
With the "system" that OSU uses, it is not supposed to work that way. If this really happened, I'd suggest talking to Panhellenic.

Yes, i did. And I tried to reach out to my Rho Gam about it, but she said it was essentially too late to do anything about it.

I thought OSU had guaranteed bids to all who maximize options . . . .many campuses do that, but OSU may not. If you don't get a bid in those situations, it generally means you were on the list(s), just not high enough. The girls in the sorority might be equally disappointed that you didn't "make the cut" because there are factors beyond their control (like GPA) that can go into it.

OP you're lying. PHA double checks all the women who the rho gams have to call on Monday afternoon, Sunday night before bid lists are even given to the chapters. That's why houses like Gamma Phi and Pi Phi had so many extra girls. Each of those Quota Plus girls were girls that PHA had double checked through and the only houses they could put them in were those no matter how low they were on those chapters' lists. Any pnm invited to preference round is technically on the chapter's bidlist and so long as the pnm met all PHAs requirements, they have a bid.

wow. your friends are lying to you. dont let them diminish your excitement and try to encourage them to understand their obligations to get a bid and rush again.

If you were invited to a house and decide to skip it in hopes that they won't extend you a bid and you'll be able to coast along on the leave all options open situation, well the guess what. Pha is going to take away that option that they graciously offered to you. No matter what round, whether preference or meet the chapters. Unless you have a valid reason of course.

Ive seen this happen to so many beautiful, sweet and honestly amazing girls. Its sad and not right... i think a big group of girls who actually deserved to be apart of greeklife got cut while some women did it for the title, got connections and that how it goes. I actually think any girl who this happened to should seriously just look into zta. If theres actually a huge group of pretty, nice, and smart girls joining one sorority... i see that as being awesome. And honestly who wants to be in a house that you need connections to get into?? shouldnt it be about who you are not who you know. No one wants to be in a house full of high school cliques

I think some girls start building a resume in high school, just to make it. Which means the the volunteer work wasn't very genuine, which in turn didn't make them better people.
