up and coming?
by: fratfroshare there any fraternities that are up and coming that not many people have been talking about? Im going to be a freshman and would rather join a small fraternity where i can help it grow into a large one when i graduate than join an already prominent fraternity. any advice?

how small is small?
less than 30; lambda chi, acacia, SigChi, AGR (if youre country at all they throw great parties for the number of guys) or Chi Phi
under 70; SAE, Pike, Fiji
out of those SAE, and pike are for sure on the rise, and SigChi will either rise all the way back to the top tier or completely bite the dust, its your gamble to take there

honestly if you go less than 30 you wont really get to do stuff with us because no group of 140 girls is going to pair up at that ratio. Id tell you to check out SAE or Pike, I think both have reasonable dues, and are a good group of guys, the IFC president right now is a Pike so im doubting they get in trouble. Basically go hangout with either of those and see who you get along with better

If you're interested in joining a smaller fraternity with a lot of potential, you might want to check out ZBT. They just got their charter last year, and this year year they will have a legit house close to 15th. ZBT is building up their numbers (around 30-40 right now), and a few girls in my sorority went to Gatlinburg with them last year and had a blast. Also a great opportunity to take on an officer position if you really want to make a difference. Just a thought!

from a girl is correct. Even though there are some worthwhile guys and worthwhile small frats, they are almost completely overlooked because they are 1/4-1/5 the size of a sorority. Those numbers just don't work for TGs or anything else. They will be overshadowed by the bigger fraternities simply due to size.
If you go with a small fraternity, you are not allowed to whine that you can't get sororities to do anything with you. You were warned.
