Ohio State University has suspended another fraternity, the latest in a string of probations and suspensions among the university’s Greek life chapters.

Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Ohio State is suspended through August 2022 after a university investigation found hazing and endangering behavior violations of the student conduct code, Ohio State spokesman Dave Isaacs said in a written statement Wednesday.

The suspension stemmed from two separate investigations of the fraternity. The chapter was one of 11 under investigation in November when Ohio State imposed a temporary blanket suspension on all 37 of its fraternities governed by the Interfraternity Council. Phi Kappa Psi was initially placed on a two-year probation in March for hazing, endangering behavior and alcohol violations.

But as Ohio State was already investigating those initial conduct code violations, new allegations involving the fraternity were reported, resulting in the group’s four-year suspension.

Documents outlining the specific allegations and subsequent investigations of Phi Kappa Psi have not yet been released by the university in response to a public records request by The Dispatch filed in November. The university defines “endangering behavior” as “taking or threatening action that endangers the safety, physical or mental health, or life of any person, or creates a reasonable fear of such action.”
