rushing with 2.6 gpa
by: heyyyyy
I know that a lot of sororities will cut you for having a 2.6 GPA but I was wondering if it will be possible to even get a bid from any of the houses with this GPA
If you explain your reasoning for having this GPA make your case look better?

I had a 2.6 last year and ended up cut from every house. I got cut down after the first day to GPhi, AEPhi, and AOII. AOII and GPhi cut me the next day for their GPA.
I explained that mine was because of a legitimate situation, and even had recommendation letters, still was cut.

I would not rush with this low of a gpa. It is way below many sororities cutoffs unfortunately. Unless you have a lot of friends in certain chapters that could help you out, even if you explained what happened it would be hard for the one or two people you talk to tell the whole chapter

Honestly, a LOT (almost all) of houses will cut you due to this. I would explain why your GPA was low in the first place and tell them what you are going to do to improve it. Go through formal to see if you like the houses you get and to see if Greek life is meant for you. If you are a sophomore or freshman by next year, definitely re-rush if you do not find your home this year due to the cuts. You can also join a business or non PHA sorority if you want to.

If you do choose to go through with that gpa, you are going to have to understand that you are completely at mercy of the chapters. You will essentially have very little say in where you end up because you will most likely only get asked back to 3-4 chapters after grade checks. And this is only if you've made a big enough impression for them to keep you.
I went through my freshman year with a 2.7 gpa and it was really hard on me. I ended up dropping and it hurt a lot to get cut even when I felt like I clicked with chapters. I worked on my grades and re-rushed the following year with a 3.2 and had a much better experience (and outcome).
I know it sucks and is a bummer but I'm just warning you. Don't take it too personally, you're just seen as a grade liability with that low of a gpa. Focus on raising that gpa and come back as a sophomore!

Thanks! How did u know the reasoning of why they cut you? Do they tell you it's because of your gpa?
