Greek life at U of I exceeds any other system in the inland northwest, including montana, wyoming, and Idaho. If you wish to join a traditional system this is the place to do it, though it doesn't stack up against most places in the south.

Once you find where you belong your life will change but the journey there is hard.
I didn't go through formal recruitment like most girls so my experience may be different and I wouldn't know about competition when being selected but from looking at other houses some stereotypes can be seen. The girls in my house have told me that they thought recruitment was a big waste of time and a very emotionally and physically stressful week.
I snapped into a house and it was honestly the best decision I made. I have had so much fun not just partying but being involved on campus, doing philanthropy events, making genuine friends, intramurals and more. I highly recommend it! also for hazing, I know all houses claim to not haze but I can't speak for any house but my own, which I never experienced it.
You gotta go Greek
Greek life is the best choice i ever made. Sure we have our little competitions against each other, but when it comes to greek life against the world we stick together. We are a tight knit community and you really get to know people from every house.
I am a PC16 here at UI and I 10/10 recommend going greek
