getting in to a top tier
by: nervous freshmani’m going to nyu in the fall and i really want to join a sorority. but i only want to put myself through rush if i can get into a top tier sorority (especially dphie). what are the main factors they look for/how can i know?

all of the sororities hate talking to girls like this. we want to find new friends for our org just as much as we want pnms to come in looking for genuine friendships in one of the seven orgs. how do you know you’ll even like talking to the girls in any of the core four? respect yourself enough to want genuine real connections for yourself, whether that comes from a “top tier” org or a “bottoms tier” one. it’s so obvious when girls come in with this mindset, and 90% get dropped by the core four because of it. if your goal is just to get into a “top tier” then don’t even bother. desperation reeks and we don’t want you.

i guess some people think they benefit from tension between orgs and creating a hierarchy? really sad to see

for the record, the couple comments that got removed were ones that encouraged pnms to go into the process with respect and an open mind for all the orgs. crazy to think that someone would want to remove comments that actually reflect well on the panhel community for once.

wow so someone really had to take down my message about NYU greek life being the generic brand of sorority/fraternity life? lets get real. we cant compare to state schools but you will have a lit ass time in ways they never will and it does not matter what org you get into

When people act like you need to be in a top tier org to parties but I know girls who are in ast and dg who are promoters 😂

everyone knows it's nyc club scene > frat parties anyway. People (girls) just like frat parties bc they're free and normally get free booze. Literally, once you find a promoter, there is no reason to go to them anymore.

to be fair, in addition to the free booze at frat parties, it's also nice to just be around other college students. the creepy old dudes at clubs are awful sometimes and can totally ruin the night.
