Miami University of Ohio - MU Greek Life Reviews

Greek life here is on the decline. The school is kicking off and suspending fraternities left and right. This year already 3 frats have been investigated by their nationals or the school. Thankfully I believe they have gotten out of it. It is truly sad to see the well know greek life culture here change so fast. The culture of the Greek life being the best in the midwest. The school cracks down about the most minor allegations even to the point where organizations can get in major trouble just for icing someone. It’s unfortunate that the school is so out to get organizations in trouble rather than letting them have a bit of fun. Just my take on Greek life throughout my time here.

Big greek school, frats and sororities run the bars and party scene. Hazing is everywhere to some degree, some more extreme than others. Rushing is a great decision at Miami of Ohio.

Don’t join Greek life here if u don’t plan on getting hazed like crazy

When applying to this school I had no idea the effect greek life had on this campus. It truly effects the whole social scene but it is a very great thing to get involved in and make some life long friends. Pretty much every wealthy alum I have met from Miami was involved in Greek life. It is great for networking, practicing time management/discipline, and partying.

Miami Greek Life is the closest thing to the south you’ll find anywhere but the south.

If you want to have a good time, join Greek life. The school's purge on fraternities has gotten to a point where fraternities are guilty until proven innocent and accusations are anonymous as well as based upon ONLY RUMORS. Many times they come from rival frats rather than a credible person with credible information. Despite this, Greek life basically runs all social life and it is hard to have any social life without it. Make your time worth it. Housing is average for most besides FIJI and Beta. Philanthropy and involvement is not high at all.

Basically if you arent part of greek life at miami it makes it a lot harder to have a social life. AS someone who's been in a frat for the last threee years I can safely say this school has a terrible greek life system led by IFC who does next to nothing and the greek life office who punishes frats based on RUMORS. the school is out to shut greek life down and by 2022 who knows if there will be any left. If you're reading this and deciding between miami and another school, pick the other school. Greek life is on the decline and when all the good frats are gone the only ones left will be the ones that are lame.
