contact from fraternities

Is it a big deal to not get contacted by fraternities before rush?

Only fraternities that contact this early are desperate.

You'll only get contacted by the desperate ones. I remember Alpha Sig spamming rushees the summer before my freshman year.

If you have friends from high school in the top houses usually they'll contact you during the summer. Common practice for KA, ATO, SX and to some extent SAE. Sig Ep used to go all out in summer rush.
