why is there a lack of southern culture at fsu?

Florida in general is not nor ever has been considered “southern”.
It’s primarily composed of people from all over the USA with a wide array of cultural roots. Unlike true southern states, ( Georgia Alabama Mississippi ect... it is far more culturally diverse.

I'm glad we don't have a southern influence.

All the southern schools with large greek life systems are full of men who let themselves go. their high school jawlines became double chins in college and their high school abs become beer guts. they dont know how to dress either

Plus, racism too. If this school was southern, there wouldn't be any latino/as in the fraternities or sororities

Well to answer that question you just need to take a look at the demographics of the school. Probably about 60-65% white, mainly pulling from Central and South Florida, whom very few of those kids have exposure to southern culture.

If you do like southern culture/southern guys, then there’s a fraternity for you - the Kappa Alpha Order. They’re as southern as it gets in tallahassee(aka not nearly as southern as say SEC schools for example), but they have a lot of good guys.

Other chapters of “southern” fraternities operate at this school(e.g. SAE and (formerly) Chi Phi), but their chapters here definitely lack that connection to southern culture, kind of by design.

Also the type of kid who willingly goes there is different from those who go to FSU. Not to paint a broad generalization, but the more southern-type girls might be more studious and thus choose UF.
