mid tier sororities

by: ...

I am.not in a mid tier house. But, I had a very interesting discussion with a sister who was a transfer. She said, and I agree, that our mid tier houses are really really good. We think this is somewhat unusual, and that at many schools mid tier is mediocre, or their is a huge divide between top and middle.

Wondering what everyone thinks? Is this typical? Typical for a very strong Greek system? Are they strong because the Greek system has been strong for a long time and pledge good legacies?

Every house at FSU, even the "bottom tier" houses, are really really good. In my opinion, if you were to take a look at say a school in the Big 10 their top tier houses look equivalent to our mid-tier ones. The only other Panhellenics that are considered as strong as FSU's is are Alabama, UGA, Ole Miss, Texas, and Oklahoma.

What constitutes "strong" panhellenic? Number of chapters? Sizes of chapters? Grades and achievement? Or who you think looks the hottest is a strong sorority?

It's holistic. I think it takes into account retention for all 4 years as well as grades, sizes of chapters, etc.
