how are there so many “bottom” tier fraternities
by: freshmani’ve been going to alot of different houses this summer and everyone has something to offer especially in comparison to other schools i visited in high school so how can there be so many “bottom” tiers at a school like this i dont get it? also why are the fraternities so hostile to each other couldnt working together make a better greek life overall? i hear so much bashing from each fraternity in person and on this site

A lot of houses were kicked off during the Greek life suspension in 2017 and some of them were older chapters who were well-regarded (Phi Delt in particular.) Everything's in flux right now. I think a lot of houses are seeing room for improvement and trying to jump on the opportunity, which is what's making the hostility worse (it was always there though.) As for why there are a lot of "lower houses" it probably goes back to the suspension and even before that too; there used to be A LOT of fraternities at FSU and now it's dwindled down to like what, 18? A lot of the ones with lesser reputations who kept their noses clean are the ones who are still standing (for now.)
