how are there so many “bottom” tier fraternities

i’ve been going to alot of different houses this summer and everyone has something to offer especially in comparison to other schools i visited in high school so how can there be so many “bottom” tiers at a school like this i dont get it? also why are the fraternities so hostile to each other couldnt working together make a better greek life overall? i hear so much bashing from each fraternity in person and on this site

I don't understand either. FSU greek life is wack. Not like it used to be. Wish everyone was nicer like this is a top party school all of our frats are still better than other schools.

High standards here buddy. In all seriousness any middle tier fraternity or even some of the ‘bottom’ ones would be top tier at 90% of schools. FSU has some of the best Greek life in the country so there’s a LOT to live up to.

A lot of houses were kicked off during the Greek life suspension in 2017 and some of them were older chapters who were well-regarded (Phi Delt in particular.) Everything's in flux right now. I think a lot of houses are seeing room for improvement and trying to jump on the opportunity, which is what's making the hostility worse (it was always there though.) As for why there are a lot of "lower houses" it probably goes back to the suspension and even before that too; there used to be A LOT of fraternities at FSU and now it's dwindled down to like what, 18? A lot of the ones with lesser reputations who kept their noses clean are the ones who are still standing (for now.)

Several Frats like Phi Tau, Sig Ep, Sig Pi and Delta Chi have improved a lot over the past few years and there are some other houses that aren't happy about it. Not sure how much it has to do with the suspensions of other Frats.
