how can i be a good panhellenic woman
by: OPOk, so this is a serious question. Please no rude responses. I joined a sorority post-grad as an honorary through the alumna initiate program. I didn't get to have the collegiate sorority experience so I want to hear about the experiences of others and how to exemplify values in everything I do. Why did you choose the sorority you did? What values resonate with you the most? How do you show your values in everything you do? Thanks guys <3

Just my opinion. Girls join the sorority where they feel they fit in and they hope to get a bid from whatever place they feel most comfortable. Although there is a lot of talk, very few decisions are ever made on the basis of which sorority has the 'best philanthropy', etc. It can be very superficial.
At Florida State, just being in any sorority is a big deal, whether it's one of the 'top tier' or one of the bottom tier. There's no sorority where you can't have friends and enjoy a good time.
Now, to get to your question. If you are an adult beyond college age, your focus on 'values' is likely different than what's going on in the minds of undergraduate sorority women. As an adult, probably the best thing you can do to be a good alumn is to act as an advisor and mentor to the girls, and enjoy the fellowship of your peer alumni.
The truth is that 'values' is not a hot topic around the sorority house among the undergraduates, except at recruitment time when there is a lot of required politically correct talk.
