rec letters

how important are rec letters actually? I heard they automatically get you through the first round but I also heard that they don't matter. Pls help

You are confused. Legacy is what sometimes gets an auto invite to second round at certain houses. Recs do not help you get an invite back so much as can help you from getting released. They can make the difference when we are deciding who to invite back between pnm's we like equally. The tie breaker is the one without a rec being the easy cut. Recs show you are really interested in us because you bothered to get one and give yourself as much advantage as possible with us, and also some sororities can not offer a bid without a rec. Recs do matter. Get them.
