legacy
by: ‘23I’m a double legacy for a sorority at FSU, will that help me in any way when I rush this fall or does that not really matter anymore. Thanks!

Ignore the frat-splainer who thinks he's an expert on sorority legacies. Here's the truth from an actual sorority member: Your legacy status will not help you get a bid. What is can help you with, maybe, is some special consideration during the process, like getting invited to second round if your legacy house has that policy in place or help you at pref if your legacy house requires legacies to go on the first bid list. But that's all your status can do for you and your legacy house can drop you at any time if they deem you aren't a good fit. This will happen sooner rather than later in the week because they aren't going to carry a legacy to pref that they don't intend to bid, so if this happens you just focus on other houses and let it go. You might want to check on the sorority's legacy policy to make sure you actually are one. Sororities all have different definitions of legacy. You can check with nationals; usually it's on their site. For example, XO does not grant legacy status to granddaughters; only daughters and sisters. Some sororities also have a legacy introduction form to send in so check that out as well.
