hateful toward pi kappa phi?

I know this is not the place to ask a serious question but I'm going to anyway.
Does anyone besides me think the whole reaction to the Pi Kap alumni party photo is overkill? I get that one of their members drank himself to death and now the fraternity is kicked off and all 100+ brothers are without a chapter now. They're still 'alumni' members of the fraternity and they have the right to be friends and socialize. And I get that having a south-of-the-border party is somewhat politically incorrect, but not illegal, and now some people want to punish each individual who was in the photo.
