a bid is a privilege, not a right

by:

With 2 weeks until recruitment, I think it would be good for PNM's to remember that any house they get a bid from will be a good house. FSU's recruitment is the second hardest in the country, the first being Alabama, and that in itself should tell you how competitive it is. This year 2500+ girls will be rushing, and each pledge class is only 90-100 girls, do the math. A lot of girls will drop because they feel entitled to a top tier house that ends up dropping them. If that's your attitude, you should reevaluate. A bid is a privilege, not a right; remember this when other girls get "the phone call", or someone only has 3 parties during the second round. You're lucky with wherever you end up on bid day, because the chapter you end up in saw something in you that made them put you on their bid list.

But Bama is not the hardest neither is FSU. Ole miss, Tennessee and other sec school are far harder than Bama. FSU is hard considering everyone is extremely rich and good looking but connections wise you don't need anything. Ole miss is insane hard to get a bid

Bama has the largest Greek life in the country and that's what makes it the hardest. More people = more completion, but their houses are also bigger which means they can probably take in way more people.

Ole Miss has a difficult rush, but they don't have as many people rushing and it's easier to get a bid because they base it more on recs than we do. I wouldn't say Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc. has a harder rush than us or bama. Our rush is hard because even if you are a legacy, have tons or recs or know people, it really only matters how attractive/ facey you are.

I thought that the pledge acceptance is now 120 max versus the usual 100 since there are more girls rushing?

Has to do with quota. Last year 2200 girls rushed and the pledge classes were 90-100 so it may go up but it will not be 120. It's still very competitive.

Last year there were about 1,800 who signed up for recruitment yet only 1,200ish actually attended open house round. And I highly doubt that almost 3,000 are signed up this year like it says in another post here. Bama had 2,800 signed up and they have the largest recruitment in the country. Quota is never set until right before preference so the size of new member classes depends on how many women are still in the process at that point. It could be the same number as last year.

@nope actually last year there was over 2000 that rushed, maybe 1800 showed up but def over 2000 signed up. If you're talking about 2014, then yes 1800 signed up.

Basically you are judging me on my looks and the few conversations you are going to have, glance at my grades then judge me worthy?
Really? That's about it then you insult me and tell me it's a privilege and I should be totally grateful? I don't think so sister... It's a two way street. I get you live your house and I hope I find that house as well but can it with the superior attitude and try to be more approachable in your commentary then peeps won't rip you a new a s s h I l e on here! Have a great day!

I really don't think y'all are getting the point of this post lol. Op isn't insulting you, they're explaining to you that if you are someone who only wants a top tier house that you need to realize all the houses are good and that it's very competitive. They're also saying be grateful with what you have left because there are girls who will only have 3 houses left in the second round, and if you have 9 out 12 you might be upset but you're doing a lot better than other girls. Y'all are judging us just as much as we're judging you.

even though only 2100 girls are rushing, this is still very accurate
