does race matter?

by: kim

Just wondering, does race play a role in the final decision of who can become a freshman member of a sorority? I'm African-American, and I know there's "all black" sororities, but those really don't appeal to me AT ALL. I have a decent gpa and I'm not a bad person, but will all of that be ignored because of my skin? I just really want to know before I get my hopes up..

Sororities will overlook it more than some fraternities would. So you're good.

Sororities in no way discriminate against race. There's diversity in all houses. Go through recruitment! You may be surprised.

sororities discriminate more than fraternities do in general.

They're girls of all colors in Panhellenic sororities. I know when I'm recruiting the color of skin is completely irrelevant to me and my sisters. You should have no trouble finding a Panhellenic home!

I would go for AGD or ADPi, those seem to be the most accepting of other races
