It’s JMU come on

Honestly I feel like with the extremely strict Harrisonburg and JMU pd, and RA’s who call the cops on you if they think they smell weed in the hall, and the limited bar scene at JMU makes going Greek almost a must. ESPECIALLY for guys. As a guy it’s almost impossible for you to get into a party. Your girlfriends can try to get you in but I’ve personally seen this fail many times. Say you do happen to get past the door guy. Now once you are in you might get some dirty looks or asked the iconic question “who do you know here?” Your going to go through all that trouble just to get into a house owned by a ton of guys you don’t know. Your girl friends might have gone there but they went there so they could hang out with the dudes from the house or whichever organization. It’s sad that this is the way it is. I wish it was different but this is the truth. If you want to experience a decent college party not in some weird apartment or dorm as a male. You will have to go Greek. Hats off to you if you find another way but this is my opinion.

This site gives off the terrible vibe of JMU greek life (Greekrank is probably toxic for a lot of other schools with good greek life too though). Anyway, in real, JMU kids have a fun time and there isn’t really any beef between organizations. Girls often make great friends in other sororities, guys have friends in nearly every frat, and even “lower” tier fraternities throw great parties.

In reality there aren’t really tiers at JMU (we all know who the hottest/best are), but no real clout/reputation comes with this.
