sorority rush as a sophomore

Is it hard for a sophomore rushing at JMU to get a bid? Do houses look at you differently when they find out that you’re a sophomore and are you more likely to get dropped?

No one is mean. They just don’t take as many sophomores it’s usually nothing personal

do it plenty of girls do & houses take like 5-15 ish it really depends but you’ll be able to relate to the girls easy since your a soph and prob more mature & less naive

I rushed as a sophomore and I got my top choice! It's definitely harder but go in with an open mind!

I rushed and I got my top choice! I got dropped by 4 first round and I’m pretty sure it’s because I was a sophomore but I was kept by my favorites. My top 2 kept me all the way until pref night! Just keep an open mind and go into rush with an idea of what you’re looking for out of a sorority and try to stay true to that as much as possible :)

The higher your gpa the longer they’ll keep you around. Some houses may have higher gpa standards for sophomores but for the most part you can google their gpa standards

^^^^ Yeah if you're a sophomore and have a gpa below 2.7 expect to dropped by a good amount houses, it's nothing personal, its just their standards

All houses take sophomores! Some more than others though, usually “top tier” sorties normally take less sophomores but if a sorority really likes you it shouldn’t matter

it depends what houses are recruiting for... zta used to not take almost any sophomores but this year took a good amount, gphi took no sophomores. It’s harder to fill the house with older members so a lot of houses move towards taking more freshmen

Sophomore year can still be worth it... if you don’t have an established group of friends and you want to get involved then do it!!! You will find some of your best friends
