will i (french foreign exchange student) fit here?
by: FrenchieI come from the france country and I will be studying economics & international affairs at JMU. I'm 20 years old and my english is like a 3/10. My parents want me join greek because my dad said americans do lotta "fun" stuff at the parties and he do not want me miss out on "fun" experiences. Do you think I will fit in? I don't know if this website is a good representation of the greek students here but these threads kind of turn me off what you think?

Greek life is a great opportunity to become more social and involved in other activities. Aside from parties, date functions and mixers with other chapters, chapters also support different philanthropic endeavors.
But many clubs and organizations also have these opportunities if you see yourself fitting in elsewhere. I would rush and see where you feel you fit in, you can always drop rushing if you don’t enjoy it or don’t find a house you like but there is no harm in trying

a mixer would be a frat and sorority having an ~exclusive~ party between their chapters say a pike and asa mixer. date functions are either girls having a venue reserved they ask a date to or guys having a party they ask a date to

Could you explain for me what date function and mixer is? I looked it on google but I did not find any appropriate results.
