rushing as a sophomore

What are the disadvantages or advantages of rushing a sorority as a sophomore? Is it harder to get a bid?

some sororities (zeta) in particular dont like taking any girls besides freshmen. That doesn't mean you're automatically denied a bid! A lot of other top sororities like to diversify their pledge classes by taking sophomores and freshmen.

Honestly I don't really think there is a difference. This isn't a big southern school where you have no shot. I think a lot of pledge classes have sophomores in them. Junior.. that may be pretty tough.

So it can go either way. If you made good grades freshman year (lol) then your chances will probably be a bit better because it shows that you put in effort academically, but if you have a 2.7 or lower you're bound to get dropped from most of them. I had a friend who rushed as a sophomore who didn't get called back to any, and another who got called back to all 9. It just depends.
