moving on up
by: jWhat can SigEp do to move from mid-tier to lower top tier?

SigEp chapters use the Balanced Man ideal of building a sound mind and a sound body to frame their programming ideas. To help develop the Sound Body concept, chapters do not simply participate in intramural sports, but are also encouraged to sponsor annual physicals that measure cholesterol, blood pressure, and screen for different types of cancer. Many chapters have also begun to educate their members on how to prepare healthier meals, which begins by serving healthier meals in the chapter facilities.

They need to do what any chapter needs to do:
1. Make a plan for how to ramp up each aspect of the chapter: membership, involvement (both Greek and Campus), academics, sports, philanthropy, and, oh yeah, parties. Then work it.
2. Don't 'settle' for the guys who walk in the door at rush. do the hard work of getting to know a person for a few weeks or even months before giving a bid.
3. Hold members accountable for their actions. A man who isn't keeping his grades up, who isn't paying his bills, who is giving you a bad reputation with sororities, that guy is not helping the chapter. He needs to get right or get out. And the chapter is not helping him by excusing or covering his bad actions.

I'm a new freshmen and during the greek bbq I talked to a lot of Fraternities and this one definately stood out the most to me. They mentioned helping me with grades, campus involvement and talked about what they had planned and their values. Seemed like they were going for something different than other Fraternities and it really got my attention. Looking forward to maybe seeing more of them in rush week!
