sorority recruitment

Are looks really that important when it comes to sorority recruitment? I'm not white nor rich nor "hot" but I'm average-looking, social and get along w people. I'm interested in rushing in the Fall but if it's just hot girls they're looking for then I don't wanna waste my time or money lol
