pledging q

Hi guys. I'm a current freshman who is trying to get a sense of what pledging is like next year. I won't be pledging a top tier frat if that's any help. My main concern is that I have research lined up for next semester, and I don't know if I'll be able to do both, so could someone give some insight? Thanks!
