After half a semester of work, you are ready to ditch the books and relax on the beach with a nice daiquiri. Spring break is one of the most discussed and anticipated events for any collegian. Whether it's a ski trip or PV you better make sure you do it right. I hope everyone out there has the best spring break of their life. Here are some tips to get you through the week.

1. Relax…Let someone plan for you

Go through a travel agent or service that specializes in spring break trips. They know the area and destination better than you will. For my spring break we are going through XtremeTrips, they handled our flights, hotels, transportation while out and even the drink deals. They will have all the answers and you won’t need to worry about the small details. Even with all the excitement you need to remember to relax, let the planning happen for you.

2. Pack Accordingly

Rather than throwing a bunch of tanks into a suitcase try to pick out matching outfits. After a long day in the sun while taking tequila shots, your brain will thank you for your organization and preparedness. Also, no one needs 5 pairs of shoes for 5 days. Your wallet will thank you when you can fit it all into a carry-on instead of checking a bag.

3. Water & Sunscreen

In the words of Dave Matthews, “Don’t drink the water, don’t drink the water.” But seriously, make sure you know what you’re in for. Before you go, be ready to spend money on the necessities such as a gallon of bottled water. Don’t doubt the suns strength either. Even if you aren’t going to Mexico or Miami, ski trips can leave you with a good burn, if not a worse one. No one is telling you what to do. You’re there to have fun, but make sure you are taking care of yourself.

4. One Is The Loneliest Number

DO NOT let your friend be the drunken idiot alone at a bar, and do not let that idiot be you. You’re with your friends to have fun but also for safety purposes. Even if the bar is so fun and you don’t want to leave, make yourself go home with at least one friend. Going home with a friend does not consist of the dude you met at the bar who was SUPER nice and bought you a drink. Friends are the people you came with and will be leaving with.

5. It’s A Marathon, Not A Sprint

Via

Do you really want to all go for the banana boat ride? Do you really need that last shot? It’s not a normal day/night of partying. You are going hard for multiple days in a row. Spring break can get wild and hectic. As much as I hate to say it everyone is in his or her “Y.O.L.O” stage. Remember, the things you do today are on Facebook tomorrow. You have a week to get it all done…don’t ruin it within the first day and be out the rest of the trip.

Stay safe and have fun spring breakers!
