GreekRank is zeroing in on the sororities and fraternities across the country that embody what makes Greek life great. In our Profile series, you’ll have an opportunity to learn more about local chapters and what makes them unique. This week, we highlight the Zeta Nu chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at Texas A&M University.

With Alpha Chi Omega’s popular Casino Night taking place last weekend and acing fundraising, we thought it a fitting time to feature the sorority in our monthly Greek profiles. (It's also because the local news station KBTX tends to cover the chapter, their recruitment and hype videos get more views than most on YouTube, and a couple other points that show AXO wins out on popularity).

As a relatively young sorority at Texas A&M, founded in 1981, Alpha Chi Omega quickly became a sought-after sorority to rush, as their house was one of the first constructed on sorority row. 1505 Olympia Way is home to the majority of the sorority’s year member class, as well as the sorority’s entire executive board.

This year, 99 girls were welcomed into the chapter.

The mission of the national sorority, founded in 1885, is to enrich the lives of its members through lifetime opportunities for friendship, leadership, learning, and service. The sorority describes itself as one that encourages its members to "Seek the Heights", emphasizing the importance of being "Real. Strong. Women." For a sorority that’s nationally almost 135 years old, we appreciate the modernity in its slogan.

Other basics? Their colors are scarlet red and olive green, their flower is the red carnation, and their philanthropy is Domestic Violence Awareness. The national Alpha Chi Omega works country-wide to “build awareness of domestic violence, help prevent it, and to aid those who are victims.” At Texas A&M, AXO’s donate and volunteer at Phoebe's Home, the local domestic violence shelter.

Their Casino Night fundraiser on November 16, 2018 even raised almost $80,000 to support the cause. Along with Alpha Chi Casino, other events include Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and Pizza Pie for Alpha Chi. We’d let you guess what the premise of the event is, but it’s more than an opportunity to eat pizza with the AXO sisters. Rather, you get to eat UNLIMITED pizza with the sisters -- for five bucks. If you’re usually a two slice kind of a girl, bring your appetite and your boyfriend.

We love that the girls decided against filming a recruitment video for 2018, and instead donated the money and produced a simple 60-second “hype video” compiling shots. Who likes agency-grade recruitment videos anyway? (Besides us.)
