Is your college life bleeding you financially dry? You are not alone. Are you a student who is trying to save some cash for your career or future? Consider these thrifty suggestions to tighten your wallet.

Buy or rent used textbooks and sell last semester’s books back: When purchasing the Semesters Text books, find out if you can rent the books instead of buying them. Renting is typically 50% to 80% cheaper. Also, sell last semester’s books back to the book store to get some extra cash.

Limit the number of times you eat out weekly: College students tend to go wild on campus with all of the restaurants at school and near Universities. Try eating out just a few times a week by limiting your dining to just your favorite restaurants. Pay Bills on Time: Avoid late fees that only clean out your wallet by being alert and organized. Make sure you pay all of your phone, housing, tuition and other fees on time.

Walk, use public transportation or ride a bike instead of having a car: The amount you spend on gas tends to add up when you always drive your car around. Biking or walking are cheaper and even a great exercise. Also, Public transportation such as buses typically only cost $2.00.
Check out the Campus Gym: Students get in free to gyms at their University. Take advantage of this offer and save some cash. Don’t waste too much money on a gym in town.
Don’t buy unnecessary school supplies: At this day and age, we have other sources to use for doing homework, such as laptops. Keep this in mind when purchasing your school supplies. Don’t overspend by buying useless notepads and notebooks.
Drink water instead of other beverages: Water is free anywhere and everywhere. Cut back on expensive soft drinks, lemonades or sweet teas and start drinking water with meals. It will save you a whole lot of money. Sell Old items: Pawn Shops and Consignment Shops offer the opportunity for individuals to sell old items for cash. Why not sell some old clothes you no longer where or that old stereo you no longer listen to? In large cities with Universities, these shops can be found widely.
Make Your Own Coffee: Coffee shops tend to be expensive over time. Try making your own coffee instead. Purchase coffee beans, creamer, and any sugars you would like to add to start your day.
Apply for Scholarships: Scholarships are a great way to lessen the expenses of tuition and there are many different kinds. Look on scholarship websites and start applying. You can find scholarships from academic purposes, volunteering experience, or simply for having a certain eye color.
